Visiting any church for the very first time can be an uncertain experience. Well, we want to put you at ease. Your first visit to Starlight will be refreshing, friendly, and enjoyable for the whole family. We want you to experience inspiring music, helpful teaching and preaching from the Word of God, friendly people, and a place where you can feel “at home”! We are a “family” in Christ and want you to be a part of our family. Here are a few answers to some questions you may have and some information on what you might expect on your first visit.

What can I expect on my first visit?

We sit back from 434, but are easily accessible at the end of Hayes Road. As you enter, you will always find warm, friendly people in our foyer that will welcome you and direct you around our facilities. We are always honored when folks come to visit us or come back to visit! Whether you are looking for a church home and church family to be a part of, are searching for Scriptural answers to life’s challenges, or are just passing through, we would be delighted to have you as our guest.

Where do I take my children?

We have Sunday School classes for all ages at 9:30AM. We start with an excellent nursery that is provided for all services. Our safe, clean nursery is staffed by caring, well-trained workers who provide a wholesome and nurturing environment for your little ones up to 2 years old. For children 3 years through 6th grade there are fun, friendly, Bible centered classes where they will learn and grow. These classes are staffed with trained, friendly, and well-qualified teachers and helpers that will make Sunday School exciting and memorable for your child.

*** There will be Usher’s and Greeter’s in the Main Lobby to help you find the age appropriate classes.

For children 1st-5th grade, during Sunday Morning worship at 10:30am, they start off in the main sanctuary with you to worship as a family. Then Pastor will dismiss the children 1st-5th grade to go to a Children’s Church designed especially for them and allow the Parents to focus on what the Lord has in store for them.

We also have Sunday School classes for teenagers and adults. There is a large Sunday school class in the main auditorium, taught by Pastor Riggs and you are welcome to attend at any time. There classes are smaller group settings where you are invited to meet people, enjoy some coffee and donuts, and hear a Bible-centered lesson taught more directly applicable to your life-stage. The best way to get to know people at Starlight is to visit one of these classes.

What can I expect in the Main Service?

Our main worship service is designed for God’s glory and our good! You will experience a warm atmosphere with friendly people that are excited to have visitors whether it is your first time or first time in a long time!

The music at Starlight is TRADITIONAL, not contemporary. We still sing the Scriptural, truth filled hymns of the faith, as well as newer songs written in similar style and with a solid Scriptural message. Special music focuses on exalting and honoring the Lord Jesus Christ and not on some “performer”. We still believe that sacred, godly music is a command of Scripture and a tool of the Holy Spirit to properly prepare our hearts for the preaching of God’s Word.

The music is always followed by a clear, helpful and challenging Bible message by Pastor Riggs. The emphasis is always on making practical applications of God’s truths to our lives. Pastor Riggs preaches the Word of God without compromise, but with the Biblical admonition of “speaking the truth in love” so that all those who hear may “grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ”.

We close each service with an old-fashioned invitation. That is an opportunity for everyone to respond to God’s working in their heart through the message. Some will come to pray for themselves and their burdens. Others will come to the altar to pray for someone they are burdened for. Still others come needing to make a decision to trust Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour or some other personal decision. That decision to respond to the invitation is totally yours. That’s why it is an “invitation”. We are here to help you if you so desire.

How should I dress?

There is not a dress code at Starlight for members or guests. Our ministry leaders and many of our church family dress in more traditional “Sunday” dress; however, our main goal is that you would feel welcome and comfortable on your visit.

Nurseries

Loving nursery workers provide a clean and safe environment with a state of the art security and paging system. Parents can have peace of mind while they attend one of the adult Bible classes or one of the worship services. Nursery is provided for newborns through two year olds.

Pager & Security System:

Starlight Baptist Church has implemented a number of safety features and security measures to ensure that your child will have a safe, enjoyable experience while you attend our services. We use a computerized system for check in and check out to ensure only someone you authorize can pick up your child. Volunteers who work with children are carefully interviewed, screened, and trained.

Toddlers

It is amazing how much your child will learn in these classes specifically tailored for children from three to five years old. They will come home singing new songs, quoting verses they have memorized, displaying their crafts, and sharing with you important truths they are learning from the Bible. They will learn things like the importance of obedience, being kind, sharing, and even more important truths, like who Jesus is, and the fact that God loves them and made them for a unique purpose. The teachers and workers are trained, dedicated, compassionate, and excited to be a small part of the life of your child.

K4 & K5

Games, excitement, learning, crafts and songs are just a few words that describe the Primaries Sunday school classes at Starlight Baptist Church. During this critical age range, children’s ability to memorize Bible verses, and to comprehend more significant truths from the Bible really accelerates.

1st and 2nd Grade

Juniors

3rd through 5th Grade

Third and fourth graders will experience classes and a Junior church service that is as full of energy, excitement, and hope as they are. They will learn powerful truths from the Bible that will stick with them for the rest of their lives. They will memorize Scripture, participate in games, and make great friends.

Bus Ministry

Hundreds of children, adults, and families are brought to church each week through the bus ministry. Many of these children are underprivileged, and the love of Christ that they receive through the bus ministry is the highlight of their week. This ministry is staffed by dozens of volunteer Christians who love people.
